ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF 2020 HEALTH PROTOCOLS

Special 2020 Rules for Using Mount Vernon Park

Reducing COVID‐19 Exposure at Park – Members should not use any facilities at the Mount Vernon Park Association (MVPA) if they have a confirmed or suspected case of COVID‐19, are experiencing any of the symptoms associated with COVID‐19 or have been in contact with someone with COVID‐19 in the prior two weeks.

2020 Health Protocols – During the 2020 Season, will operate under special Rules and Procedures. The rules and procedures for using the tennis facilities and the pools are posted around the club and have been sent to all members by email prior to opening the facilities, and these will comprise our “2020 Health Protocols”. Each Member agrees to read and comply with the 2020 Health Protocols.

Current 2020 Health Protocols:

Masks will be required per the following guidelines, scenarios, and locations:

  • At the Gatehouse and Park Entrances (the CDC does not recommend face coverings for children under 2). Once you are to your designated spot within the park you may remove your mask.
  • In any enclosed spaces within the park (Bath House, Managers Office, etc.)
  • When engaging directly with Staff

NOTE: While there are those that question the use of masks, our ability to open and remain open is dependent upon our following guidelines, you must abide by these rules or you will be asked to leave the park.

Check-in at Gatehouse:

  • Entering the park will be different this year. You will still check in at the gatehouse, but you will go in through the gate that we open for Overflow parking. Our staff and several signs will help guide you to the gatehouse for check-in. Please wear your masks and practice social distancing while waiting to check in and keep the parking lot free from bystanders. You will be stamped when you check-in, so in case you need to run to your car you won’t need to go through the check-in line again. (This plan is subject to change as we work through the opening phase).
  • Per the Governor’s orders we are required to ask you and every member in your family the following questions when checking-in. “Are you currently experiencing fever (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher) or a sense of having a fever, a new cough that cannot be attributed to another health condition, new shortness of breath that cannot be attributed to another health condition, new chills that cannot be attributed to another health condition, a new sore throat that cannot be attributed to another health condition, or new muscle aches that cannot be attributed to another health condition or specific activity (such as physical exercise).” If you answer “Yes”” to any of these questions or are exhibiting any of these symptoms, please do not come to the park. We are very serious about keeping our staff and members protected.

Swimming:

Phase 2:

  • You must be able to swim without assistance to use the lap swim times. As long as you are doing some form of exercise in your lane that will be acceptable. You can bring your own kickboard, noodle, do some water walking. You must be able to enter, exit, and swim on your own.
  • While in the pool area you must remain 10 feet apart. This is due to the higher exertion and exhalation efforts during exercise.
  • No one is permitted on the pool deck or allowed to sit in the grassy area who is not lap swimming.
  • You may have no more than 3 family members in your reserved lane.
  • Per the Governor’s orders, you must keep 10 feet between you and a lifeguard on duty. As in previous summers, you may not talk with the lifeguards while they are on duty. Their job is to keep their attention on the swimmers, and they cannot keep us safe if they are distracted by others trying to talk with them. If you need to discuss a pool matter, please locate a Manager.

Phase 3: Begins July 1

  • MEMBERS within the same family will NOT need to remain 10 ft apart in the pool. However, non-family/household members still need to remain 10 ft. apart in the pool area.
  • Recreational swim will be allowed. You whole family can enjoy swimming together. Remember to keep 10ft. between your family and others. We will be removing some of the lanes to create a few larger lanes for families to play in. Parents/siblings are allowed to hold and assist non-swimmers. Exercise is still allowed
  • Sitting on the grassy areas around the pool is allowed. Please observe the “circle” to distance from non-family members and stay safe.
  • • Per the Governor’s orders, you must keep 10 feet between you and a lifeguard on duty. As in previous summers, you may not talk with the lifeguards while they are on duty. Their job is to keep their attention on the swimmers, and they cannot keep us safe if they are distracted by others trying to talk with them. If you need to discuss a pool matter, please locate a Manager.

Use of Bathhouse:

  • You will not enter the pool through the bathhouse. You must be dressed and ready to enter the pool directly because the changing rooms will not be available.
  • The bathhouse will ONLY be open to use the restroom and wash your hands. An MVPA staff member will be at the door located on the park side and will allow 1 family in the bathhouse at a time. We ask that you help keep that area clear as we will be practicing social distancing. The pool side bathhouse door will remain locked. As always, listen and respect the staff’s directions. This is for everyone’s safety.

Open Areas:

  • The big grassy area on the pavilion side will remain open for some fun socially distanced play. Areas surrounding the pond will also remain open for socially distanced fishing. These areas are accessible to members during their respective reservation time. The playground will be open, but play at your own risk. The basketball court will remain closed under the current regulations.
  • In Phase 3, several grass areas will be available for reservations on weekends. This will allow additional members to enjoy the park knowing there is a space for them.  There will not be a table in these areas so please bring all chairs and tables that you will require to enjoy your time at the park.
  • Fishing pond: First come, first served with social distancing observed. Only 1 family at a time on dock. Please limit your fishing to 30 minutes if you see others waiting to fish so that all members may fish.
  • Off-limits areas are marked by tape. Please let all family members know they are not allowed there.

Phase 2 Guidelines

  • We will be able to have 3 people to a lane for lap swimming. This still must remain for exercise use only and the 3 people, regardless of if they are in the same family or not, must remain 10 ft. apart. You may pass one another in the lane while doing circle lap swim or walking, but you must keep moving when you pass. The lane reservations will remain the same.
  • You will be able to bring your own chair into the pool area and set up in socially distanced spaces in the grass areas. So, if your family has a lane reservation, you may set up your chairs or towels in the grassy area and watch your family. Socially distanced in a pool area is 10 ft.
  • We will be able to offer water aerobics classes under the 10 ft distanced restrictions provided.

Phase 3 Guidelines begins July 1

  • We will be able to have families in one pool area for recreational swimming.  Family members do NOT need to remain 10ft apart, however, families DO NEED to maintain 10ft distance from other families.  The lane reservations will be reconfigured to allow some family swim areas.
  • You will be able to bring your own chair into the pool area and set up in socially distanced spaces in the grass areas. So, if your family has a pool reservation, you may set up your chairs or towels in the grassy area and watch your family. Socially distanced in a pool area is 10 ft.
  • We will be able to offer water aerobics classes under the 10 ft distanced restrictions provided.
  • We will be opening the baby pool for 30 minute reservations.  2 families will be allowed in the pool at a time.  The pool will be split in 2 sections and each family will need to remain in your reserved section.  The families must remain 10 ft. apart from each other. Usual baby pool rules remain in place, no child over 7 years old is allowed in the baby pool area.  We will not have pool furniture out, so you will need to provide your own seating if you wish.  Our staff will be monitoring this area.  As always, please be respectful to our staff when they remind you of our rules.
  • Beginning July 4 we will open up extra lawn space, by reservation, where you can bring your own chairs in and set up without a picnic table.  These reservations will be available on Friday – Sunday the rest of the season.  As usual, you must remain 6 ft socially distanced from non-family/household members.

Periodic Updates to the 2020 Health Protocols – It is expected that the 2020 Health Protocols will change over the course of the summer season as government and public health guidance evolves and the Board of Directors continues to evaluate the operation of the Club. Each Member agrees to read and comply with any updates to the 2020 Health Protocols.

Member Safety – The 2020 Health Protocols and Rules are designed to comply with government and health official’s guidance in order to operate MVPA in a manner that is as safe as possible for staff and members. As member owners of the park it is incumbent on all of us to follow all of these rules for the safety and future of our park. We are all responsible for our actions within the park and adhering to these guidelines. You also acknowledge that there is a risk of exposure to COVID‐19 at MVPA even with these 2020 Health Protocols in effect.

I and each member of my household over the age of twelve have read and understand these rules and will comply with them out of respect for the safety and well‐being of the MVPA community. I have also carefully explained this form and the tennis and pool rules to all members of my family (ages twelve and under) that may use the MVPA facilities in 2020. Checking the box below acknowledges that you have read and accept these conditions for using the Park.
